Beauty and inspiration...forevever entwined
During her very rewarding seventeen year career in television, Alina devoted her free time to another creative endeavor: the art of handcrafting jewelry. The designer's keen eye and passion for design developed long before working for the silver screen.
My mother taught me that beautiful materials and attention to detail should be the foundation of any creative pursuit. From inception to completion, her remarkable eye for design and detail aided her in the fabrication of everything from our summer dresses in Los Angeles and Venezuela, to our winter wool coats in England.
Naturally it followed that when the collection was launched, materials like hand forged 14K and 18K gold, pave diamonds and choice pearls, coupled with inspired designs and meticulous attention to detail would be the driving forces behind the line.
My love affair with diamonds, pearls and leather was born of a desire to own fine jewelry that was elegant enough to complement my wedding rings yet forward enough for my favorite skinnies.
Over the course of a decade, Alina soaked up everything from scouring the market for exquisite pearls to designing diamond pendants, to shaping and soldering precious metals. Ten years later the collection was ready, not only for a woman's favorite skinnies, but for wardrobe favorites from designers like Isabel Marant, Nili Lotan, Brunello Cucinelli, Galvan, and Helmut Lang.
Alina is passionate about family, travel, and interior design which she approaches much like her jewelry line (sneak peek of her home in Santa Barbara magazine).
Based in Santa Barbara, Designs by Alina was discovered by Elizabeth Charles in San Francisco's Pacific Heights where the full collection is carried.
